A total of 24 underprivileged children from St. Joseph’s Home and 10 regular children from the public participated in the second fun and thrill Ivorycares Ed-Venture Camp during mid-year school holiday at Taman Negara Pulau Pinang that was carried out from 8am till 6pm. The focus of the ed-venture camp held this time around was on Basic Forest Survival. The 5 main elements namely, fire, signal, water, food and shelter were highlighted in the program where campers were required to put on their thinking caps and skills to work in order to ‘survive’ should they be lost in the forest. Participants were grouped into teams to work on the given tasks with limited materials such as pen knife, whistle, matches, hooks, string, and aluminum foil and they were also required to search for other materials they could find on the beach to create the necessary survival tools. Other fun activities were Mega Sand castle Building, Hands n’ Legs Race and Water Confidence where they were required to jump off a jetty and swim with the help of a float rope. |
