The Fun & Thrill of Ivorycares Ed-venture Camp! - 9 March 2008

Ivorycares Ed-Venture Camp is an educational cum adventure based program organized during school holidays for underprivileged and regular children from the public.  A total of 16 underprivileged children from Children’s Protection Society and 8 regular children from the public participated in the said program that started at 8.00am till 6.00pm.  About 18 Ivorycares volunteers also joined in the fun.  They first hiked a 1.52km trail that took approximately 30 minutes to reach Teluk Aling, the camp site.  Upon reaching, the children had a wild and splashy time in the water.  The fun activities that were included in the program were, caterpillar ‘walk’, surface water race, mega sand castle building and hands n’ legs race.   On the serious side, participants underwent Water Confidence and Basic Forest Survival that highlighted the 5 basic survival skills required to survive in a forest, i.e., fire, shelter, signal, food and water.  At the end of the program, the children each received a Certificate of Participation and an exciting Survival Kit.  Ivorycares partners with FWV X-treem Adventure Group, a specialist in outdoor activities and Penang Adventist Hospital, for first aid support, to co-organize the program during each school holiday.
