For the fourth consecutive year, a Blood Donation Campaign was organized by Ivorycares on 18th April 2009 from 10.00am to 2.00pm. The objective of the Blood Donation Campaign was to substantiate the blood bank of Penang General Hospital which has a high usage rate. Additionally, this campaign was also aimed to foster a sense of social responsibility amongst Ivory staffs and the general public. The public were invited to participate in this noble deed that took place for the first time at Penang Times Square. Besides the public, donors included Ivory’s employees, associates and friends. Out of the 218 people who registered, a total of 151 blood packets were successfully collected via this meaningful event. The Blood Donation Campaign also included a health talk that was conducted by the Health Department. The officials carried out health screening tests as well as set up exhibition panels on healthy living lifestyle for public awareness. YB Tuan Phee Boon Poh, the State EXCO for Health, Welfare & Caring Society was invited to grace this meaningful event. Also present were, YB Tuan Abdul Malik Abul Kassim, State EXCO for Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, and YB Tuan Ng Wei Aik, KOMTAR Assemblyman. All donors were given a souvenir and certificate of appreciation plus light refreshments were served throughout the campaign. |
