In conjunction with the Hari Raya festivity, Ivorycares organized its yearly Festive Charity Contribution. The Ivorycares team visited four poor Malay families where two of them are located at Tanjung Tokong while the rest are at Sungai Pinang.
About the families:
Maznah bt. Zakaria, aged 52 is staying at Sungai Pinang with her husband and three children. Two of them were sent to the rehab due to mental illness. She has difficulties taking care of her family as her health condition is bad plus her husband is jobless. The other beneficiary in Sungai Pinang is Mak Bee (Hawabi bt. Ali), a single mother aged 78. She has a heart problem, thus unable to do heavy chores. After her husband passed away, she lives with her only son who does home repair work. However, her son is unable to support her with his low income that is only sufficient to support his own family. In Tanjung Tokong, Pak Salleh (Mohammad b. Hitam) a 72 year old man has been suffering from a stroke for the past 10 years. He lives alone and is partially paralyzed. His very kind neighbours take turns to take care of him. Living in the same area is Jahara binti Mansor, aged 52. She is mentally retarded caused by an illness when she was only a child. She is being looked after by her cousin who manages her daily needs.
Members of Ivorycares are always on the look out for individuals or families in dire need of support especially during the festive season to spread good cheer. The recently visited families were sought out via friends and families who were aware of such unfortunate cases. Ivorycares contributed about RM2,000 worth of food items, apparels, toiletries, household products, and duit raya to the four families
