In the spirit of Deepavali, Ivorycares, extended aid to Madam Prabavathy Muthu Meyapa, a single mom who needed support to start up her coffee shop business in order to support her family. With a monthly minimal sum of RM700 from the welfare department, it was rather difficult for Madam Praba to manage her household that comprised 4 school going children and a 62 year old disabled mother who lost her right leg two years ago due to gangrene.
Madam Praba used to run her coffee shop business with her husband at Anson Road, called Nirvana Café. Unfortunately, everything fell apart for Madam Praba about 3 years ago when her husband left her and her family. She also landed in heavy debts which she was unable to cope with.
Upon hearing Madam Praba’s plight, Ivorycares took the opportunity to extend its support by contributing the provisions she needed to start her business going. Ivorycares also provided plastic chairs to replace the existing ones which were worn out. Fluorescent lights were added on to brighten up some areas of the shop especially for evening operations. Two additional gas cylinders were placed as well for her Mee Goreng stall. Upon handing over the contributions to Madam Praba, the Ivorycares members also helped to enliven the shop with some Deepavali decorations.
