This year, Ivory celebrated Thaipusam in a grand way with a specially constructed thanneer panthal (booth) alongside Penang Times Square at Jalan Dato Keramat. Ivorycares’ volunteers helped in serving delicious vegetarian food for about 2,000 devotees. A huge crowd gathered at Ivory’s panthal especially during the serving of food which finished within an hour during lunch time. 

The serving of food to devotees was organized for the 5th consecutive time as part of Ivory’s social obligation to the community. Devotees and Ivory staff smashed 1,501 coconuts during the coconut breaking ritual just before ushering the silver chariot of Lord Muruga.

YB Ng Wei Aik, the Penang State Assemblymen for KOMTAR, Dato’ Low Eng Hock, Ivory’s CEO, Mr Ron Loh, Ivory’s Executive Director and other staff handed over the tivarthanai tambalam (silver tray laden with garlands and fruits) to the volunteers on the chariot as offerings to the Lord to fulfill their wishes and vows
